What is CAGR?

Compound annual growth rate: the steady yearly rate that turns a starting value into an ending value.

CAGR smooths out a bumpy path into one comparable number. A stock that went from $100 to $200 in five years has a CAGR of about 14.9%, whatever happened in between.
