Sector rotation

Where is money rotating?

Each sector ETF plotted by its relative strength against the S&P 500 (right = stronger) and the momentum of that strength (up = accelerating). Tails show the last 10 weeks. Sectors tend to move clockwise.

As of Nov 06, 2026 · weekly closes · benchmark SPY. RS-Ratio and RS-Momentum are normalised z-scores centred on 100 — the widely used approximation of the JdK method.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Relative Rotation Graph?

An RRG plots each asset's relative strength against a benchmark on the horizontal axis and the rate of change of that relative strength on the vertical axis, splitting the chart into Leading, Weakening, Lagging and Improving quadrants.

How do traders use sector rotation?

A common approach is to overweight sectors moving from Improving into Leading and reduce those moving from Leading into Weakening. Rotation is a relative measure — a Leading sector can still fall if the whole market falls.
