What is EBITDA?

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization.

EBITDA approximates the cash profit of a company's operations before financing and accounting choices. It is widely used in valuation (EV/EBITDA) but can flatter capital-intensive businesses, because the equipment they must keep buying never shows up in it.
