Valuation

What is Market Capitalization?

Share price multiplied by the total number of shares outstanding.

Market cap is what the market says the whole company is worth. Roughly: mega cap above $200 billion, large cap $10–200 billion, mid cap $2–10 billion, small cap $300 million–2 billion. Size matters because large companies tend to be more stable and more liquid, while small companies can grow faster and move more violently. Share counts here come from the cover page of each company's latest SEC filing.
