SEC Filings

What is Insider Trading (Legal)?

Company insiders buying or selling their own company's stock and reporting it to the SEC.

Most insider trading is perfectly legal: executives and directors trade their shares and disclose it on Form 4. It becomes illegal only when someone trades on material non-public information. Clusters of open-market buying by several insiders are widely watched as a signal of confidence.
